This method is used for determining the load carrying capacity of a pile. It consists of two anchor piles attached with an anchor girder at the top. Test pile is installed between the anchor pile. Clearance between test pile and anchor pile should be at least 3 B or 2.5 m. The load is applied through a hydraulic jack, which is placed over the test pile. Test is conducted after a rest period of 3 days for sandy soil and after a period of one month for clays. The load is applied in equal increment of about 20% of the allowable load of superstructure and the settlement is calculated with the help of 3 dial gauges. Settlement is calculated at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 40, 60 min. After calculating reading, a curve between load and settlement is drawn and failure load of soil is determined.
